If you follow me on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, you get a fun sneak peek of most of my garage sale and thrift store finds. One of my all-time favorite finds is this side table. Yes, it appears to be a small, simple side table, but once you open it up, it has a secret treasure: a music box!
As a musician, I fell in love with this table. Did I mention it has a gorgeous vintage paper inside, too? Okay, okay, so let's start from the beginning.
Sadly, someone had spray painted the table purple (over several layers of paint) so it looked super rough. I tried sanding/scraping off as many layers as I could. I also didn't want to replace the beautiful paper inside, so I taped off the edges of the lid so that it would at least have a uniform look. Then, I spray painted the whole table a satin black. As always, I sealed it with a coat of Polycrylic. The overall finish isn't perfect because of the previous layers of paint, but it looks way better than it did before and I'm super happy with the result!
I just can't get over the paper inside and the music box. Swoon. I loved it so much that it's currently next to my aqua bed in my bedroom.
