Recycled "Fall" Jars

I am so in love with fall. Are you? Here in good ol' Georgia, it's just beginning to get that cool air that feels so wonderful! Anyway, enough cheeziness! To go along with my love for fall, I made these cute fall jars for Crafting a Green World! These are SO easy to make! Here's how you can make your own:

What You Will Need:

1. Jars. I used small canning jars that my mom bought for me at a garage sale. They. are. so. cute.

 2. A permanent marker

3. One book page or other recycled paper (sheet music, newspaper, magazines, etc)

 4. School glue

5. Scissors

How To Do It:

1. I stained my book page using coffee, but you definitely don't have to. I did only because I felt like it would pop more on the jar.

 2. Once the page was dry, I drew bubble letters on it.

3. Cut out the bubble letters.

 4. Mix your glue with a little bit of water. I used a small paint brush to apply the glue onto the jar. Then, I put the letter on the jar and applied more glue on top of the letter-- you're basically decoupaging the letter onto the jar.

 5. When your jars are dry, take a damp cloth and wipe off the excess glue around the letter. Here's how they look after you remove the excess glue:

You can put these cuties on a table as a centerpiece, on your mantle, on a book shelf, etc. Where would you put yours?

Recycled Paper Fall Wreath

Like I said in my last post, thank you for your patience as I adjust to working a new full time job! I've missed blogging here SO much! This is a project I did a few weeks ago at Crafting a Green World and I thought you all would like it as well!

What You Will Need:

1. Recycled paper of some sort. I used the same sheet music I used in my Sheet Music Tree tutorial and Music Wall Art tutorial, but you can use book pages, newspaper, etc.

2. A pencil

3. Scissors

4. Something to dye your paper with. I used watered down paint because that's what I had on hand.

5. Hot glue/hot glue gun

6. A wire hanger

How To Do It:

1. Dye your paper. I dyed mine three colors-- red, brown, and yellow. I dyed 3 sheets of sheet music per color (using 9 sheets for the entire project).

2. Fold your sheet music and draw a leaf on it like so (you don't have to fold it like this, but it will make cutting out all of the leaves faster and easier):

 3. Cut out all of your leaves.

 4. Form your wire hanger into a circle. It doesn't have to be perfect (as you can tell).

 5. Hot glue your leaves onto your wire hanger. Start in one spot and work your way around so that the leaves point in one direction.

 6. After you've covered the entire wire hanger, go back through and fill in any spots you might have missed.

Once everything is dry, you can hang up your beautiful fall wreath! Of course, because the wreath is paper, I would only recommend hanging it on your front door if your door is covered by a porch/patio or overhang. Luckily, our front door is covered, so I hung ours there!

So.. what do you guys think? Where would you hang your recycled paper fall wreath?

Goose Creek Candle Company Giveaway!

Walk into my home and you'll most likely find a candle burning. I love the coziness that a candle can bring into a space and the way one smell can remind you of a time or season. A few weeks ago I was contacted by Goose Creek Candle Company to review their candles. My roommates and I were SO excited!

We received the Dark Vanilla Bean Scented Jar Candle and the Blueberry Passion Scented Jar Candle. The day I received the candles I lit the vanilla bean one before my roommate got home from work. When she walked in, she thought I was baking a cake. Yes, it smells that heavenly. The blueberry passion one smells like a yummy blueberry pie!

I especially appreciate that these candles aren't too strong for me... I'm not a fan of strong scents that are overwhelming. The only complaint I have is that they make me want vanilla cake and blueberry pie all of the time! :)

We've had ours for a couple of weeks now (and have it lit constantly) and it's still going strong! The crafter in me is already looking forward to reusing the glass jars that the candle comes in as well! Aren't they beautiful?

Now, wouldn't you like one of these amazing candles? Well, Goose Creek Candle Company is giving away one candle to two winners! There are several ways to enter-- please enter through the Rafflecopter box below!

Not only are they giving away two candles, but they're also offering an exclusive coupon code to my readers for 25% off your entire purchase! Enter 1050 to get 25% off your entire order. Hurry, though-- the coupon code expires September 30th!

I am so excited to see who wins! Good luck!

Terms and Conditions: This giveaway is only open to readers over the age of 18 and those living in the USA. Two winners will be chosen and contacted through email; if a winner does not contact me within 3 days, I will choose a new winner. I was compensated to host this giveaway, but all opinions are my own.

How To: Junk Mail Bookmarks

Have you seen these adorable page corner bookmarks from Oh Crafts? Well, I created my own version last week at Crafting a Green World and thought I would share them here as well! They are perfect for children who are back in school, college students, or really anyone who loves to read.

What You Will Need:

1. Junk mail envelope

2. Ruler or straight edge

3. Pencil

4. Scissors

Optional: Markers, magazines, or other items to decorate your bookmark.

How To Do It:
1. With your straight edge or ruler, mark the corner of your envelope.

2. Then, cut across the line.

3. Decorate your bookmark. On one side of mine, I colored it with markers:

On the other side, I colored it and then glued on magazine letters to form the word "read":

If you have children, you should definitely check out Oh Crafts' version-- she made her bookmarks look like cute faces! They are soooo adorable!
